Aide configuration LUA

Bonjour,

LUA is used to update the defintions on the SEPM. The SEPM is than able to update definition content for the clients. You need the SEPM in order to manage the clients so yes it is mandatory.

To help reduce bandwidth, you can setup a group update provider (GUP) at your remote locations to handle content updates locally instead of coming back across the WAN for updates.

How many clients do you have and do you have remote locations as well?

Thanks for the reply.

So, now I have SEP 11 installed on the clients, but i have SEPM 12, and LUA 2.3.xx.

Are SEP 11 client hosts compatible with SEP 12.

Now i'm only testing in lab, but we'll have about 200 hosts in production, and we'll have also remote locations..

Thanks.

Yes, SEP 12.1 can manage 11.x clients.

on LUA you need to download SEP 11 and SEP 12 definition.

thanks,

is LUA obliged to download files itself, i mean by running it from the downloading schedule, or it is possible to download autonomous packages and copy it int clu-prod folder?

Needs to be downloaded automatically

Thanks for all your help.

Now I understand the importance of running Distribution schedule in LUA.

My problem is that I thought when i run distribution, LUA will distribute the updates to the clients, but it's not true. It just prepare the updates for the clients, and the clients can connect to take it.

I resolved my problem and thank you very much for all your help.

I can sleep now quietly. :)

Hi mazouab,

Many thanks for using the Connect forum to find help with LUA!  &: )

To ensure that the server is able to complete its tasks reliably, I recommend ensuring that the recommendations in this article are followed:

LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x Server Connection Recommendations
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/liveupdate-administrator-2x-server-connection-recommendations

Also: it would be a good idea to upgrde all the SEP 11 clients to SEP 12.1 .  This would greatly reduce the amount of downloading, distributing and storing that LUA needs to do in a mixed environment.

These articles may help you to tune and manage that LUA 2.x server.
