I'm new to SEP and am trying to figure out if there is a way to have the server push a pop-up notification to a specific workstation.

Basically, what I'd like to have happen is whenever a virus (or some other noteworthy event) happens, I get a pop-up on my workstation.  Since AV is only part of what I end up doing in the day, it would be nice if the "bells and whistles" went off while I was doing something away from SEP.  I am running SEP 11  only until we can get HBSS up and running.

Yes, you can do this by configuring it in the AV policy

Go into your AV policy

Select Auto-Protect tab

Click Notifications tab

You can configure the alerting here

I looked in the AV policy, I see there is a tick to enable display notifications on the infected computer.  Not seeing where I can identify a specific machine to send a pop-up message to.  Am I missing something?

There is no facility available you can set send notification particular machine.You can set pop partcular Group

Set pop-ups to a particular group?  How is that done?

You can create NEW AV policy and apply particular group..

The only way you would be able to create a notification for a single computer would be to put it in its own group, than apply the AV policy with the option to show the auto-protect notification.

These settings are not available at this point . However you can create a new idea & put enhancement request as well.
