  • 1.  Allowed Sender should be scanned for Spam, How to setup?

    Posted Jan 07, 2009 04:51 AM

    Hello,

    we had an urgent problem.

A Customer had an Mail Server in his own Network and Receives all Mails from an Mail Server with fix IP.

All Mails are transferred immediately. If  one Mail is delivered to Brightmail and it  is Spam the External Server get´s Restricted. So Connection from this Server to Brightmail Appliance is Rejected for 90% Connections.

So Mail Queue on the external Server get´s bigger.

When this Server is set to "Allowed Sender" Mails will be scanned for Virus but not for Spam.

But we need Spam Filtering for this Server.

How to set this up on Brightmail, if it is possible?

Before everything worked fine for 4 Month.

But since last Sunday this Problem exists.

    Brightmail Appliance Version 7.7.0-17

From the Administration-> Hosts -> Configuration page edit your scanner(s) and add this IP address as an Internal Mail Host.  This will make sure messages are still scanned for spam, but also means the address won't be affected by traffic shaping if enabled and statistics regarding this IP won't be sent back to Symantec saying this IP is sending spam.

Questions for you, are all messages coming inbound to the appliance coming from this IP?  Do you have Traffic Shaping enabled?  There isn't really any point in enabling Traffic Shaping, DHA attack, Virus attack functionality if all messages are coming from a single IP.
