    Hi all,

I recently hit a problem with Altiris 6.9 SP4 Linux PreBoot environment where it would kernel panic and not load (no custom drivers). I got around this by refreshing the linux pxe from the FRM file.

However, the asmbmount and rdeploy commands are missing from the environment and so it is useless. I think that bootwiz is meant to unpack the files from atrs.tar in the 'base' folder but this isn't happening. Can anyone tell me where to look next please?

    Regards

    David

This is getting stranger by the minute.

I checked that the atrs.tar file is in the correct location in BASE. To make sure that the bootwiz process was copying it i edited the .ini file and replaced the %PATH_BASE% variable with the absolute path to the file. After this the whole thing started working. I put the file back to how it was, regenerated the preboot files and it is still working!

Since everything is working again i can get on with imaging machines, but i hate it when there appears to be no rhyme or reason to how something gets fixed. If anyone has a clue what could have happened i'd appreciate an explanation but its no longer urgent.

    thanks

    David

I've seen PXE images get corrupted, not a lot but I have seen them.  So a regen will fix such issues.  u are running and that works right? :)

Yep, working now but i have to replace the atrs.tar file manually every time.

    no big deal.
