I tried to apply Licenses this morning using SIM and it told me i couldn't because SIM needed to be updated. What is the update actually doing. Is it just updating the SIM client on the server or will it update something on all workstations.

this update is only for the Symantec Installation Manager on your Symantec Management Platform Server. For the Update there is no installation on any workstation only on the SMP.

During the installation Windows Installer 4.5 and .NET Framework will be installed.

Rob731, fyi I also had to do the same to add in some licensing. I did this yesterday and have not had a problem, yet.
Everything stated by EisenKarl is true except not sure I had to install the .net framework.
FYI, I've let the update happen on a few servers and the Windows Installer 4.5 installation has always required a complete server reboot.
