  • 1.  Altiris 7.1 Patch Management questions on behavior and reporting.

    If the Software Update Plug-in Policy is set for 3:00am will patches only install at 3:00am? or will patches install the next time the PC is powered on following the 3am schedule?

    Is there a report that can give me a summary of the patches that ran on each PC in the last 7 days?  With following: patch name, status of installation, date/time patch installed, name of PC installed on.  I used to run a report that provided this information with Altiris NS 6.x but cannot find anything similar on 7.1.  I know I can view this information on each PC at %ALTIRIS_AGENT_INSTALL_FOLDER%\Agents\PatchMgmtAgent\InstallLog.csv but would like something on the management end.

    Hi gdavis,

    Patches will install the next 3:00 AM, after Computer is turned on. In case, You'd like to install Patches just after the computer turns on, You have to set ASAP Schedule for this particular Update. 

    Regarding the report from 6.1, You probably could get this information from "Software Update Delivery Details" report, located in Home -> Patch Management -> Windows -> Compliance Dashboard -> Software Update Delivery Summary -> Click on Any graph to open details.

    Thank you, Software Update Delivery Details was the report I was loking for.

    I have changed my patch jobs to run ASAP.  From looking at the above report I don't really see a benifit as not running them ASAP as very few of the patch jobs looked they were installed via multicast.

    Another question, the Software Update Delivery Details  report only shows 50,000 items, is there anyway to modify this report to show a specific date range?  I tried to clone the report, however I cannot open the clone as the properties of this report show it is located at \Reports\Software\Patch Management\Remediation Status however if I go to that location the report is not there.  If I seach for the report it finds it however when I click on the report it goes to the report home page with a message to browse for it...

    That should get you going in the correct direction if you really want to unhide the report.
