You should get 30 day trial licences and all the documentation can be installed with the product.

You'll need a Windows Server 2008 R2 server. The drive you install Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) to will be the drive the rest of the solutions are installed too as well. SIM should help you with most other pre-requisites, including downloading SQL Server Express too if you want it.

I don't think there's VHDs available, something to do with Microsoft will let you distribute a VHD with Windows Server on it but not with SQL Server Express as well.

My problem is that I can't use this installer because it can't get access to internet via proxy:

"The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required."

And I can't type my credentials, because there's no place for them, and installer stops :)

Any help will be appreciated!

since I couldnt' configure the proxy beforehand (it ignored my IE settings), was actually go the web - on the server, which was tragically funny, and download the zip file with pl content.

Then I manually put it in the place it would normally reside, and then I was actually able to get to the settings on the SIM to enter my proxy settings and see the files I wanted to download.

I would suggest an idea to be able to configure proxy settings during the SIM setup and prereq check.

For example:

(install directory) D:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris

- this is created when you install the SIM.

Place the file - symantec.pl.xml.zip, which is downloaded from the default website - http://www.solutionsam.com/solutions/pl/symantec.pl.xml.zip

Your install will still not proceed, but at least you can get to the screen on the SIM where you can enter your proxy credentials. Then you can install whatever you need.

Based on my experience with this recently, and I have a LOT, if you are using a PAC file it won't work. What seemed to always work for me was to configure the proxy server information in the "Proxy Server" section of the LAN Settings in IE (Tools->Internet Options->Connections Tab->LAN Settings). Anything else turned up an authentication error. If you do that then the Auto Detect feature of SIM will work. You can download the zip file but you may still run into issues where you cannot download some components. I had that problem and am still playing clean up.

 I did try that initially, and the install still failed. I had to do the procedure I've mentioned to get the pl file in place. Good to know it worked for you!

I've used stand-alone sql server express 2008R2 installation, SmarteMail for mail server, as Windows 2008 R2 has no internal POP3 and IMAP components.

Now the installer is downloading 70 components(2.68 GB overall). I will try to copy this packages before I begin installation for future tests and implementations.
