Altiris Agent Installation
NS 6.0.674
I want to be able to give non-admin users the ability to install the agent on a workstation from the console. Without admin access, this feature is not available. If I break the inheritance of just this task and give them read/write access, than they have the ability to change everything in that area, including the parameters of the agent itself. Any ideas on how to change permissions to allow the push of the agent only?

Just a thought, but have you tried the web link? HTTP://<nsserver>/Altiris/NS/Agent/AltirisAgentDow...
The potential issue there is that the users need to be able to install an ActiveX control.

Yes, but I was looking for a push solution for IT rather than having the users pull it.
What about using a collection?
I'm assuming you're talking about not wanting to grant these users permissions to the "Altiris agent Installation" piece? What about setting up a collection that you could then scope down permissions to only add computers for those users. The Altiris Agent Installation page has a section at the bottom where you can specify a collection with a schedule to run against that collection. Setup the collection to exclude the collection of computers with an Altiris Agent and you'll rpevent them from deploying to a client that already has an agent as well.
To expand on plindqui's idea,
To expand on plindqui's idea, what about setting a schedule for the automated push and targeting a collection that the non-admin users could add machines to? You could exclude all machines with the Altiris Agent and then make the includes manual so when the machines added to the collection get the agent, they'll automatically be pulled out of the collection by the exclusion.

I Agree with Timanator If you are in an AD Environment I guess best option is to push it in the start up script.
