  • 1.  Altiris Agent in Terminal Server / Change the default view of the Manage->Computers

    Hi Guys

I have two questions, first there is a way to disable the Altiris icon in Altiris 7.5 in a terminal server session? the agentui is consumming alot of resources in the server because it opens again, again and again.  I resolved this issue in 7.1 disabling the show tray icon option in the agent configuration policy, but it dont work in 7.5.

The second questions is, how i can change the view of Manage->Computers? I want the old 7.1 version back, is that possible?

    Thanks!

"Try HKLM\Software\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Run UI in main session only" = 1

Please provide more details about the "Manage > Computers" Activity Center view, as both CMS versions use the Silverlight Console?

    Hi Sorrento,

Can you please elaborate on "the agentui is consumming alot of resources in the server because it opens again, again and again". Does it mean the actual UI window opens by itself or it means that AEXAGENTUIHOST.EXE process is started in every session?

Tray icon option does exactly what it says, it just disables the tray icon, the UI process is still running. What numbers what server resources are we talking about? CPU? Memory? How much AEXNSAGENT.EXE consumes and how much AEXAGENTUIHOST.EXE consume? There should one instance of AEXNSAGENT.EXE and as many instances of AEXAGENTUIHOST.EXE as many trminal session you have.

If you don't care about UI and don't care about some errors in the agent's event log then you can simply rename AEXAGENTUIHOST.EXE and it will not start at all, the agent itself will continue running OK.

Thanks a lot, the registry key worked fine.  Also I really was forgot that the main screen in Manage > Computers was named Activity Center, with that info I found this forum post that help me with the issue:
