Where are you seeing this information is not being collected?

Is the information missing from the Inv_HW_Processor & Inv_HW_Physical_memory tables in SQL or are you looking at a report?

Most of the hardware data classes also have information stored in Inv_HW_Logical_Device, so you will need to confirm that information for the different pieces of hardware is appearing in this data class as well.

Confirm that the NSI files for these data classes are actually being created on the client machine and if the files actually contain any data.

Also we could not find this information in REsource Manager of those systems. We have run manually some taks but of no luck.

Also there is a case wher we could find the information in resource manager but not in the Reports page or either of the tables montioned...

we could not find the .nsi files of RAM and Processor in some of the machines but we could find the required info.. What can be the reason..? Help is very much required....

    Thanks in Advance....

I have this issue with a load of clients. It looks like there symantec agent wasn't installed correctly for some reason. When I run a full inventory against these machines the job fails. I've fixed it on a couple by removing and reinstalling the agent.

Sorry the files should be a bak file as the NSI files get combined and sent to the NS. The bak file is left on the machine to be used as part of the delta process.

Confirm that the bak file exist or not.

In those files .bak files exist but when we open that .bak file using notepad,we could not find any specific information of the resource....

Ex: If we are unable to get processor details, then in .bak file of processor we find no name of the resource...

Does the .bak file show any information of the resource....?

The .bak file should contain a line similiar to the one below. This is taken from my processor .bak file.

    <row c6="9"   c0="2"  c2="2793" c3 ="266" c4="32" c5="32"  c10="CPU0"/>

This would be the same information that would be sent to the server.

The two data classes get their information from Win32_Processor & Win32_PhysicalMemory respectively. Double check to make sure both those data classes properly return information on the client machine. It may be helpful to attach your .bak files & the results of your queries against the 2 Win32 data classes for examination.

If your need its urgent them you should contact support and open a case. This is a user supported forum, though some Symantec employees do post. One question...have all of the missing machines installed the inventory plugin?

The necessary tables that are used for the Computer Summary report only gets updated when the NS.Daily task runs during the night. If you are missing a large portion of systems in this report its either that they just reported their inventory and the daily hasn't ran yet or the process is timing out.

To confirm if the process is timing out you can try these simple steps on the NS.

    1. Open the NS Log Viewer.

    2. In Scheduled Tasks start NS.Daily

    3. In the Find field of Log Viewer enter 'generating'.

You will see 5 different informational log entries pertaining to generating the summary data class. At the beginning of each data class generation the log entry will be created.  If it takes more then 10 minutes for the next generating log entry to appear then the process has timed out.

If this is the case please contact support.
