Altiris CMS7.1 Patch Issue

Hi

 

I am facing a weird issue with Altiris CMS 7.1 SP1 and it seems to be a very complicated thing to understand. I will illustrate it with a help of an example, MS12-048 is the bulletin that we are looking to deploy to machine running with Windows XP SP3.

After going to Patch Remediation Center -> "All Software Bulletins" and search for MS12-048 we get the desired result. If we right click MS12-048 and click on "List Software Updates" it will give all the updates that are present in the bulletin.

We have to deploy KB2691442 for Win XP x86 machines and it is present in the list software updates. Till now its all gud:)

Now the issue starts:

1) In Patch Remediation Center, we change the selection criteria to Show: "All Software Updates" and search for KB 2691442 and the update is not available.

2) If we create a policy for the update (MS12-048) the system receives the policy but it does not recieve any detail regarding the patch, related to Download Location etc. whereas the software update executable is available on NS & Package Servers.

Can someone please help?

Have you performed a full PM import (not an incremental) since this problem appeared?  Have you right-clicked the bulletin and attempted 'Recreate packages' after the full PMImport has run?  Please try both of these steps and report back.

Hi Vikram,

May you try to set value of Vendor and Category to 'Any' in Patch Remediation Center > All Software Updates and then search for KB2691442 once again?

Could you also check one more thing by the following steps?

1. Open Patch Remediation Center > All Software Bulletins
2. Right-click on MS12-048 and select Resource Manager
3. In opened Resource Manager expand list of "Software Bulletin to Software Update" (click "More...") and select WindowsXP-KB2691442-ENU.exe
4. Resource Manager for WindowsXP-KB2691442-ENU.exe should be opened
5. Check resource association "Software Component to Vendor". Is this association displayed? If Yes, What vendor is shown? It would be great to see snapshot of this page.
