  • 1.  Altiris Deployment Solution - Clients not showing up

    Hi, 

    I am booting some HP machines into Automation which get a self assigned name of MININT-xxxxxx, the machines are not showing up in the console to run imaging tasks.

    Please post back with more information such as what version of DS you are running, which OS your automation is and any other information that may help us help you.

    Hello,

    Please check if machines get IP assigned after it is in winPE(since you mentioned MININT-xxxxx it must be winPE)

    Please share more information.

    Hi, the machines get an IP and are able to ping the gateway and the domain.

    The NS/DS environment is 7.1.. initially I was able to build a few machines and VM's but not anymore. Have rebooted the machine and the DS and checked the logs, nothing showing up.

    In the logs you can see what NS they connect to, and there's a pectagent.ini file that points them to the correct NS.  Some customers have found in a hierarchy some "weird" things relative to this, where the system boots, and then checks into the wrong system.

    Also, from the command prompt, run taskmgr and see if PectAgent is even running.  maybe it's crashing and thus wont check in.

    It's a good place to start.  Read the log files - they generally will tell you what it's doing.  OR call support and we'll read them for you.  :D
