  • 1.  Altiris DS 7.5 WinPE x86 boot always BSOD with percsas2.sys

When I try to boot a machine on WinPE 4.0 x86 I always get a crash on the percsas2.sys file.  Which is odd since if it's for a PERC card, none of my clients have those.  I think there's a corruption with that file or something similar.  I have deleted my preboot configurations and made new ones, and the propblem persists.

    Thanks!

*WinPE 4.0 x64 is working correctly, though I'm having trouble finding 64bit NIC drivers for older hardware, thus the 32bit attempts.  I have another forum post about how to remove a bad driver from the PreBoot database.

    Hello,

I am having the exact same issue.  For me the culprit is a driver called lsi_sas2.sys, but the rest of the screen is identical.

The problem started when I added some drivers to WinPe x86.  I have since removed those new drivers by deleting the appropriate folders as per this article ..

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-can-i-delete-driver-preboot-database

but now I am unable to rebuild the WinPe config.

The bootwiz.log file in _:\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\Logs shows that the driver lsi_sas2.inf was successfully added, yet WinPe4 crashes.

How do I get WinPe back to a working state?

    Thanks

maybe you should PULL the custom drivers and see if one of those is actually CAUSING the problem.  I've seen something like this before.
