Hi,

If the SMP Server is a hosted server with only a 2mb link to it and we have configured all the usual Site Servers and enabled them to be Deployment Site Servers, with Task Services installed...ect...

Then question is, if we were to be at a remote Site and via the NS web console wanted to capture an image...would NS be clever enough to upload the image to the 'local' Site server and then eventually replicate this image to all Site Servers, or would this image have to go up via the 2MB link straight to the SMP server?

If not, are there plans to have this work this way?

Bandwidth is obviously a major issue here..

Thanks

Capture to a local network

Capture to a local network share, copy to the NS and it will replacate out to site servers from there.

Yabru, Short answer Yes. When

Yabru,

Short answer Yes.

When a client registers to NS a task server is assigned to the client.  When the client boots into automation it will resolved the assigned task server and the image file will be sent to the task Server/Package server (site server) and like you stated the image will replicate to the package servers after capture.

ITMS 7.1 SP1 addresses an issue assigning task servers to machines (clients) that were in a initial deployment stage.

Thanks guys,

Nelo, i think you're refering to the 'deployment' of aqn image though, or would the same apply to when 'capturing' an image.

If it gets uploaded locally and then replicated to the NS, thats cool. But if we have to upload to NS first, then thats going to be a pain...

It does not replicate to the

It does not replicate to the NS, unless the NS becomes a package server too. Default is not.
