  • 1.  Altiris imaged PC reboot

We have recently installed Altiris 7.1 to our network.  After imaging a PC with Altiris, when ever the PC reboots from that point on prompts for you to select you boot environment whether that be Windows 7 Environment or the Automation WinPE.  I have checked the Boot priority on the PC and have all set to boot to the hard drive first, on primary sequence and error sequence.  IF nothing is selected it will time out in 30 sec to boot to the Win 7 Environment.  Has anyone ran into this issue.

    Thanks,

    Rennes

Is the last step in your imaging process "reboot to production" ?

I've read in the past that if machines don't get that step, it can sometimes cause confusing boot issues.  Try sending a reboot to production task to one of them and see if issue goes away possibly?

Yes i do have the reboot to production step included, although once rebooted i do not have them connecting to the Domain as i need to rename before hand.  After renaming and connecting to the network the issue still remains.

The error also occures on any PCs that have the agent on them and have not been rebooted.

Sounds like you're using automation folders. Enabling this will create an extra partition with the automation environament installed on it. This now gives you two boot options so when booting up the computers prompts to see which OS you'd like to boot to. If you don't want to use the automation folder once you've imaged you can set a policy so it removes it.

How would a person do that? I have looked through a number of the possible tasks and I did not find one that allows you to delete the automation partition.

In case you really have Automation Folders set up.

Create a new task... Package delivery/Quick Delivery. As package you should choose Deployment Automation Folder then choose Uninstall Deployment... in Command Line.

Its a policy. Go to settings, Agents/Plugins and then all agents plugins. On the left expand Deployment and Migration. Under Windows (64) and Windows (x86) theres a deployment automation folder for windows uninstall. Turn on those policies and apply them to the machines you don't want to have the automation folders on.
