I'm trying to setup an install of the VAC using Altiris.

I have created an ISS answer file below

[InstallShield Silent]
Version=v7.00
File=Response File
[File Transfer]
OverwrittenReadOnly=NoToAll
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-DlgOrder]
Dlg0={7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdWelcome-0
Count=5
Dlg1={7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdLicense-0
Dlg2={7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdAskDestPath-0
Dlg3={7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdComponentTree-0
Dlg4={7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdFinish-0
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdWelcome-0]
Result=1
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdLicense-0]
Result=1
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdAskDestPath-0]
szDir=C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault
Result=1
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdComponentTree-0]
szDir=C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault
Component-type=string
Component-count=2
Component-0=Vac
Component-1=Always Installed
Result=1
[Application]
Name=Enterprise Vault
Version=8.0-RG1991
Company=Symantec Corporation
Lang=0009
[{7042DC99-7779-4C5C-A7F2-B9957BFA04EC}-SdFinish-0]
Result=1
bOpt1=0
bOpt2=0

But when I run
setup.exe -f1"Console.iss" -s
I get a error -2147213312 during install. This is one both XP and windows 7 machines. If I run the command from a command prompt it completes but nothing happens.

Is there any documentation anyone has stumbled accross that covers silent installs of the VAC or even the Vault in general?

It sounds like this post

It sounds like this post would be better addressed for the Altiris Forums directly.

I have had some issues when installing the VAC a while back for Roles based Admin on a workstation due to a certain patch \ apps being missing on Windows XP but this was not using Altiris it was a manual install.

I had to use these patches \ apps on  Windows XP

WindowsXP-KB907265-x86-ENU.exe and  Adminpak.exe

I hope this helps.

I would also suggest posting this to the Altiris forums as well to see if they can diagnose your error.

If this reply has resolved your issue please mark this post as solved Thanks for your time EV Noodles

Stil no joy

Has anyone got any information on command line options for the Setup that actually work?

The problem is with the installer, it seems Symantec have hobbled the install or just not enabled command line switches, so it doesn't accept normal installshield switches.
