    I have a customer that needs to renew their license for:

    • CLIENT MANAGEMENT SUITE POWERED BY ALTIRIS TECHNOLOGY 7.6 
    • ASSET MANAGEMENT SUITE POWERED BY ALTIRIS TECHNOLOGY 7.6 

     

    but the reseller can only sell me 8.0 versions... can I make a downgrade of the licenses? Will they work?

    I believe that the 8.0 license will work with a 7.6 or earlier server based off of past experience with similar license scenarios.

    Interesting... I know I need to take my 7.6 licenses and have them converted to work with 8.0....  Thought I would just mention that..

    If license for 7.6 is outdated, you won't have the solutions for that version working at all, as well as 8.0 solutions.

    As for a license for 8.0 valid one, it can work with 7.6 products too.

    However, why would you need to use version 7.6 of Altiris?? Altiris 8.0 has many improvements than version 7.6. I totally recommend it.

    I havent seen really any differences in 8.0 from what I can see...

    but back to the why on 7.6... 

     

    due to the nature of what we do we cannot be on the lates more so to let the bugs work out first and secondly it takes us a LOOOOONG time to upgrade. When we were going to go 7.1, it took so long we ended up stopping our meetings, etc to review 7.1 SP1. While some think that is minor, it is large for us.

     

    the whole thing about no licenses was for a different group to show them what they can do with it for now and maybe get licenses in the future. I setup the 8.0 environment and they havent used it yet as they are so busy.
