We have Notification sever version 6 with Server Management Suite level III and Service & Asset Management suite level II were installed onto a shared SQL server and I want to know the database names so that I don't inadvertently affect the wrong databases.  Thanks.

    Hi Jim,

You can check registry key on the machine where NS Server is installed:

    HKLM>Software>Altiris>eXpress>Notification Server,

DBDsn value contains information about Database, used by this NS.

    Regards,

    Sergei

    Hi Sergei,

Thank you for the response.   I did find the name of 1 of the databases that all the software installed - Altiris using the registry key suggestion.   I believe that the solutions created databases as well, and I'm searching for those names as well or confirmation that both solutions use the same "Altiris" database.

    Thanks, Jim.

    Jim,

Basically all the Solutions share one single database on NS. There can be another Databases though, used by Recovery Solution and Out-Of-Band Management Solution. However, If You don't use those solutions, You have only one NS Database.

Please, correct me if I got Your question wrong.

    Hello Sergei,

AMS & SMS use the NS's database, which in 6.0 is called Altiris.

NS 6.0 also creates a Altiris_Incidents database by default, which is initially used by Alert Manager (Limited Helpdesk product included with NS for resource ticket creation only) and then Helpdesk (provides user based ticket creation and other features) when that product is installed.

Recovery Solution creates a AeXRSDatabase by default I believe.

Out of Band Solution ceates an Intel database called Intel_AMT I think.
