Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Hi all,
in my company we have few application that send snmp trap in case of alert, warning etc


I'd like to know if Altiris NS 6 and his component are able to manage this trap and take action.
seems to be that Altiris can manage only device and not application

Yes, we have monitor solution (we are reseller, and have all available product/module/options) that allow to monitor service, process, performance, on our server.

The most important requirements is that Server must be in a collection.
Also printer, network device etc must be in a collection to do some kind of management

Now , our application is not an object that altiris can manage (computer, printer, network device) and i don't know if it's possible and how to receive trap from application and then take action.

after a meeting with altiris senior enginner i found that altiris is able to manage snmp trap by SNMP Listner. But this is not real time monitoring, trap are received and saved to database in some tables.

You can view trap received using a report

For simulate snmp based real time monitor you should create a custom query/report that analyze snmp tables and then take action.
This report should run every 5-10 minute

Please note that in Monitor Solution 7 and Event Console it has a Native SNMP Listener and forwarder for SNMP Trap Events and Alerts.
