This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi the

I heard that Altiris has capability to deliver patches to windows servers by setting the date way far in the future (say, year 2020), but not to install them? Is it true? Also once Altiris delivered patches to windows servers, besides of windows administrators who else could be able to install those patches, and how they could install them? Is it through Altiris client SMA?

Thank you very much,

Charlie

  1. When they are downloaded you just can click "Start Software Update Cycle" on the "Software Updates" tab.

this option is only available if you check "Allow user to run" at:
    Settings
       Agents/Plug-ins
         Software
           Patch Management
             Windows
Default Software Update Plug-in Policy (or any other policy you created)

  2. go to "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\PatchMgmtAgent" and find "AeXPatchUtil.exe"

    try it with "/?"

you can run "AeXPatchUtil.exe /Xa" to start the Software Update Cycle.

@Edit: and yes ... it is true ^^
