In a scenario where a customer has a number of remote offices, what is the recommended implementation for Altiris (CMS). 

What are the hardware requirements for the remote and main offices?

Depends on the site sizes.  A small site that still wants a server (<50 or <100) could cope with having a workstation OS function as a package and task server.  But the recommendation for larger sites is a server OS.  In general, a multicore 2.0-2.4GHz+ processor with 4GB of RAM.  I'd say you want a quad core if over 1k nodes, and 8GB of RAM if you're over 5k nodes.
