My company is paying for me to go to Altiris Training

Can anyone offer any recommendations?

I have been looking at the CMS bootcamps from various sources - Any suggestions? Reviews. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

I taken the NS, DS and

I taken the NS, DS and Asset Management Training. We had on-site training for NS & DS at my company.

For Asset Management I attended a training session at Bay Dynamics by Seamus Garvey.

The person at Symantec responsible for Altiris training material was in the class reviewing the existing material to update the course.
I choose Bay Dynamics because they are a partner with Altiris and provided real world examples.

Personally, I would start using the product before attending training.

Use the product some before training

For the NS and DS training it is best if you use the product some before coming to training. Especially if you are going to the bootcamp. Also I agree that you should go to a training, like ITS or Bay, where the trainers are also consultants who have real world experience instead of just reading the powerpoint slide deck to you.

Feel free to contact me directly with any questions regarding training

Already have some experience

We already deployed NS, Asset mgmt and patch mgmt solution. We have DS deployed but haven't started using it.

I am looking to improve custom report/collection creation (sql driven) and also best practices for load balancing/DR/ SQL tuning specific to Altiris.

I have read numerous articles in the Altris KB also.

I was looking at ONLC - Any experience with these folks?

I looked at ITS also- I will call them and see if they offer anything mid november. I mainly need NS Asset Mnmgt, Patch Mgmt, and DS

Great

Good to hear you have some experience with the NS, Patch Management and Asset. I know we have a couple of classes that cover Asset and CMS Bootcamp on the schedule.

The NS Foundations classes spend some time on custom report writing and how things work.

Let me know if I can help

I did my training Maintech

I did my DS 6.8 training at

http://www.maintech.com/

It was good 5 day class covering the install from how to produce reporting tools.

I had about 4 months of using altiris before i went to class. I had good grasp on how to image computers, create scripts to install apps. Stuff like that.

class help me with understanding how to create custom reporting and use the SQL Wizard to create reports .
