Altiris User permissions question
Created: 20 Sep 2012 | 2 comments
We are running Symantec Management Platform 7.1
We are wondering is there a way to allow users to run a job without being able to see all the tasks within the job? Some of our tasks contain passwords which we don't want the end users to see when they run the jobs.

Assign the job to a target and set it to run on a schedule. Have the technicians place the computers into the target, whether that means an AD security group, an Altiris Organizational Group in a particular view, or adding the computer to a dynamic or static filter.
The other method would be to remove the need to store passwords in plain text, which doesn't seem best practice.
Does this help?

The first option we would rather not go with (help eliminate human error by possibly leaving computers in the group, not updating correct, ect.)
I think we'll look into trying to get out of using plain text. We found some other forums with options to try, we will be looking into those and depending on what we find I can update it here.
Thanks,
Tom
