Android screen rotation causes app to reload

If you rorate the screen, the Connect app reloads instead of displaying the page you were on in either landscape or portrait, thus causing you to redo the sequence you had previously performed in order to arrive at said page again.

What's your Android version? I don't have this issue. I'm on 4.0.4

Hi SK,

When you say "Connect app" are you referring to the version of Connect that you access via a web browser on your mobile device?

SK's picture

Yes, the Connect app for Android.

Yep, Android 4.1.2 does this on my side too. Running it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 if that matters at all?

Sorry guys, I'm going to have to bow out of this discussion.

The Connect app for Android was not developed by Symantec so we're unable to provide support advice.

Sorry guys, maybe I'm missing something..there is a Connect app? I usually just browse to the Connect site on my phone and it adjusts itself as needed to fit the phone. If there is an actual app I would love to try it...

Yes there is an actual App.  Just search for Connect in your store.

Ahh, I found it! It doesn't come up for me on a search of "Symantec Connect" but I did some advanced filtering and finally found it. And yes, my phone is now doing the same "refresh" as yours and Craig's when turning the screen. I see the app hasn't been updated since May of 2012 though...

...just by the way guys, I tried this with the News24 application I use to read the (mostly bad!) news in South Africa...it also reloads when the orientation is changed, so maybe this is more a case of it being an Android issue?

Thanks!

Hi all:

When the orientation changes in Android, the application running is reloaded. The application must be in charge of taking this into account, so before being unloaded it must save its "status", and when it is loaded again, it must go back to its previous "status", so the user doesn't feel that the application is being reloaded.

Kind regards:
