Hi,

I've been beating my head on this one for days. I can break up the installation file and install LiveUpdate ok, but SEP is not happy with something. I've attached the log file, can anyone help with this?

Thank you SO much in advance,

Larry

Are you trying  to install managed  client, or unmanaged? First try installing unmanaged client, from the SEP folder in your installation DVD. If that works, then replace the sylink.xml file, to convert the  client to managed

Update

Vikram,

This also failed to install. The new log is attached. The visible sign is that during installation there is a fairly long pause during the "Creating install cache" phase, then the rollback begins.

Hi NIBS,

Did you try installing unmanaged client by running setup.exe from the SEP folder?

Vishal, Arvind,

I tried to install an unmanaged client directly from the SEP folder. That failed. My next action will be to try a manual uninstallation and try again. I haven't had time to work on this lately, but should get to it next week.

Thanks,
Larry

Update

I did all of the above and the installation STILL fails. The most recent log file is attached. It appears to be complaining about locating a source directory, which does exist.

C:\Users\ADMINI~1.BRO\AppData

Looking at previous and this logs
this will definitely fix your issue
http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/5c45f3798fdd78e3492575d7001f71c3

In the registry,

Find

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
value=%APPDATA%

and change it to

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
value=%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

Install SEP client again.

Vikram,

That did it. Thank you very much, I was planning on spending an evening rebuilding a computer. Now I don't need to!
