Please check out the attached SEP_INST.log file (renamed to dot txt in order to be uploadable).  This is another instance of the same problem that impacts everyone it seems.  Please comb the logs and tell me how to fix it.

I've tried......monkeying with the registry entries, turning off UAC, installing the installer first, doing non-custom installations and trying to install only the virus tools, and plenty of other combinations.  Nothing works.

I'm running on an Intel based Mac Pro with a fresh installation of Windows7 Professional 64-bit edition.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    Hi,

-- Ensure the Windows Event Log service is started and set to automatic.

-- Ensure that logon to the OS is made with administrative permissions.

-- Navigate to Start>Run and enter "services.msc" without quotes.

-- In the Services window that opens, scroll down and locate Windows Event Log service.

-- Right click and choose Properties.

-- On the General tab click the Startup type drop-down menu and select Automatic.

-- Under Server status click the Start button.

-- Click Apply to save your changes.

--Restart the machine in question and run SEP installation again

--Verify that the system has adequate resources for the product install

-- Verify that the system is not currently infected.  Run Symantec Power Eraser.
