  • 1.  Anti-Virus 10.1.8.8000 excessive disk writes to SAN

    Posted Feb 02, 2011 09:04 PM

We are running Anti-Virus 10.1.8.8000 on Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 servers hosting Windows Servers 2003 R2.  The past couple of days we have been experiencing excessive disk writes to our SAN at the same time in the morning (Australia EST).

We have a Symantec Update Server that downloads updates from Symantec and then pushes to our Citrix Servers. We believe the reason is that all of our Citrix servers are trying to update all at once instead of a staged approach.  This has never occurred in the past and has only started the last 2 days (2/2/11).  This causes performance issues as most of the servers write to the SAN and this takes up bandwidth.  This happens from 10-45 minutes and then performance returns back to normal.

We do not know why now the servers are performing updates all at once and would appreciate some assistance.  If anyone has any ideas, please reply to this thread.

    Your help is appreciated

    Kind Regards

RTVSCAN uses 100% of CPU for 5-60 minutes
    Fix ID: 1879071
Symptom: Rtvscan.exe may consume 100% of available CPU for a period of 5-60 minutes. The issue is intermittent.
Solution: Rtvscan.exe was modified to prevent a case where the IDB processing logic could get into a loop, consuming all CPU.
