hi everyone,

when i logged on into my SEPM, and clicked Admin - Servers - Show LiveUpdate Download, I got an error saying that my anti virus definition for win 32 is failed to update, while all other definitions was updated successfully.

I have been receiving this error since March 27th, 2008 and ever since, I had to download the definitions manually.

I have followed the instruction for this matter that posted on another topic in this forum but it still didn't worked out for me.

Where did I do wrong? what should I do?
Or should I just re-install my SEPM and re-joining all the SEP clients?

Please help me

thanks in advance....
Bram

Many thanks,

Hello again,

I was able to find a solution elswhere in this forum.  I have cut and pasted the relative portions below.  Thanks to Tex and Sandeep_Cheema for posts. The entire thread can be found here:https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=endpoint_protection11&message.id=1051&query.id=2059#M1051

Fix:
Please go to C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\Symantec\Liveupdate

\Downloads.
Delete everything in the Downloads folder.  Then run liveupdate from the console once more.
Its very important to clean it off the old virus definitions which might have got corrupt for any reason that goes unexplained(transport,data,storage,unpacking...could be just about any reason.)
Also delete all the *.temp(if any)  and the dated folders like 2007xxxxx under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SymcData\sesmipsdef32 and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SymcData\sesmipsdef64  after stopping the symantec endpoint protection  service.
Then run live update after starting the symantec endpoint protection service.
Worked like a champ for me.  Many thanks, JP
