This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi all,
I have SEPM 11.0.4014.26 installed. Whenever i install clients, in some the antivirus and antispyware definition shows out of date, even they are up to date. I am not getting how this thing is showing, as in my server all of the client machines are up to date. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Sapta

It's normal with clean

It's normal with clean installation.
Upon installation client defs are old but they are very quickly updated from the server / LU.
That's why you have notification on the client that goes away pretty quick.

If you want you can play with VDefHub.zip and create an install package with latest definitions but I don't think it's worth the hassle (instructions are on this forums).

I am having same kind of

I am having same kind of problem with 11.0.4000.2295. Clients are installed some time ago but now and then some client decides that its definitions are out-of-date. But if you open "Endpoint Protection" on client machine then it shows that definitions date is current date or yesterday(warning period is 5 days). Client reinstall helps but it's bothersome and I quite can't get the reason, why it thinks that definitions are out-of-date when they aren't.

@ sapta Try this. I want you

@ sapta
Try this. I want you to check a registry value for me. We are only checking the value but if you feel more comfortable I always suggest to people that they backup the registry before navigating through it in case any changes are made by accident. Ok so check this value for me:

Navigate to (on the client):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\AdministratorOnly\General

Then Check :
DisplayOutdatedMessage. If the value of that is zero you should change it to one and see if that takes care of your problem. Again back up the registry first.

@Markko Meriniit
You can check this too although I would look through the two links that were posted earlier in this forum first.

Cheers,
Grant

Hi Nel

Are you having this same issue? Actually after reading this again I don't think my solution helped. I misread part of his question. Regardless I would like to help with what problem you have. You should start by telling us exactly what is going on, what error message, what version you have, whether you clients are 32 or 64 bit ect. All of the normal questions. In fact it might be easier even to make a new post and just provide a link to reference this one. Thanks

Grant

Hi grant,

Hi grant,

Firstly sorry for giving so late reply, i have tried your suggestion, but it did not help me with the issue, for testing purpose i uninstalled one client in the grouip and then again installed it with the same installation package. It is working. Tell me should io have to do this for all the clients in the group? I first thought that the package might be corrupted, but later after installing again with the same package the message is not coming, i m pretty much confused with this.

No Nel,

No Nel,

the problem did not resolve with the change in registry, i tried with one client, uninstalled SEP from that and again installed it with the same packege, it got solved. But my question is then should i have to do this for all the clients in the group? are you having the same problem? if yes is your issue resolved? Sorry for being late to reply.

Hi Grant_Hall, Yes we do have

Hi Grant_Hall,

Yes we do have encountered the same issues...
I was wondering if we already have a fix to this so that we could make an option other than just re-imaging the PC again...
thanks...

Hi Sapta,

Yes, we resolve it the hard way...
re-imaging the PC again... reinstaling SEP...

Hope there is a better way...
I shall be reading this link for updates...
Thanks...

I figured out what was happening for me...

I had the same issue. 360 was saying the definitions were out of date even though they were only an hour old. Really simple solution: make sure your system clock isn't set ahead. Somehow mine got set a month ahead, and I never pay attention to the date (just the time.)

Fixed the date and it's working fine now.
