Is there a Upcoming Maintenance Release for Symantec Antivirus for Linux that will include support for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS? If so is there a proposed release date?

    Hi Clifford,

I am not familiar with the particularts of that new version of Ubuntu, but in general it is possible to compile and install your own version of SAVFL for specific kernals and platforms.  Here are two articles that may help:

How to install Symantec AntiVirus for Linux on Ubuntu
    (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2008090512200448)

Symantec AntiVirus for Linux: How to Compile Auto-Protect Kernel Modules under Ubuntu
    (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2009081214270148)

Please let the forum know of your progress, or if those articles are sufficient to answer your query!

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick

I am currently running SAVFL on my 10.04 machine. Support generally applies to AutoProtect, as we need to have a compatible kernel.

On 9.10 I was able to compile the AutoProtect kernel modules for my 64-bit machine, but I was unable to get it to activate. 32-bit 9.10 was fine. I haven't tried recompiling the AP kernel modules on my 10.04 64-bit machine yet.
