AntiVirus Distribution Failures

Created: 12 Nov 2012 • Updated: 12 Nov 2012 | 6 comments

Hi All,

I have Computers with a mixed bag of AV Definitions pushed out to them, some Workstations are on the latest definitions whilst the majority are not. I have compared PC's with the last signature to others that are not healthy

- both have same client version, I have looked at logs, ran debag on the Management server but no joy

Ran the SEP Support Tool on one problem machine with no errors expect having to upgrade the client

The SEP Management Server also isn’t pulling the latest Content Update, I have forced a Download of updates from the Symantec Site (no proxy straight out to the Internet) and Rebooted the Server.

Appreciate any help

Thankyou

Is the SEPM on the same defs as those clients that are out of date?  Is it possible that you have different LU policies assigned across your vairous groups?  As it sounds as if some clients are looking to the SEPM only for definitions while other might be enabled for updating via the Symantec LU Servers out ont he internet.

I'd recommend the below article(s) to help investigate the various possible issues, these focus in particular on getting your SEPM updating.

Hi Sam365.

What version of SEP is running on the SEPM?  And, how healthy is that machine?  Is it out of disk space, by any chance?

Running a server activity report can give you an excellent high-level overview of what is going wrong with that SEPM.   That may be the best place to begin.

With thanks and best regards,

Mick
