I git more often the error;

I am running Win 2008 R2 Ent with Java Runtime 5.0 update15 (which s crying to be updated) and MIMESweeper from Clearswift.

I just wnat to know wiil it help or harm if I update the Java to Version 7 Update 9?

If you want to use Java 7, you need to upgrade Scan Engine to version 5.2.14 or 7.0 first. Versions before only support Java 6.

That has no bearing on the log message you posted though. That just looks like we weren't able to download virus definitions.

moving to Scan Engine/Symantec Protection Engine forum.

As far as I can see there was a solution from Symantec for Clearswift MIMESweeper, but I am not sure if this is developed or supported anymore. Last article which I found about it was in 2010.

However to keep my serwer running smoothly I will try install the SymantecAntiVirus_Messaging_5.2.14_Win32_IN and than update Java to version 7.

Should I be aware of any unexpected behaviour or should I do some post installation tasks (i.e. configure once more Symantec with MimeSweeper)?

It might be a good idea to perform a clean install and start fresh with whatever settings MIMESweeper needs.

Your post was a little confusing, did you want more info about the Liveupdate issue? If so, you would want to locate the liveupdt.log file to determine the failure reason. If this happened only once it may have just been a failed download.

After I updated Java nad Symantec I got two services from MIMESweeper which are not starting up:

• MSWEXRESULTSSVC - MIMEsweeper EXCHANGEmanager Results Submission Service
• MSWEXSVCHOST - MIMEsweeper EXCHANGEmanager Service Host

There is something with authentication fail or registry key not found in the first service.

However MIMESweeper shows that all services in the web management console are started.

Any ideas/tips? 

Since Scan Engine is just a verdict engine, we don't support any of the products that send it the queries. You may need to contact MIMESweeper's support regarding those issues.

Clearswift adviced me to disable those services since they are not used on my server.
