Protection Engine for Network Attached Storage

Has anyone installed antivirus on the Netapp ONTAP system ..... What is the process to install AV client on netapp ONTAP OS ...

I dont think the normal OS client will work .

You cannot use normal AV for this.

You need to have Symantec Protection Engine for NAS. See here:

Yes, you can't intall OS client on NAS server.

For NAS there is a different scan engine. Need to get in touch with that team.

does it support Netapp ontap OS ... when i try to download the trial version it shows only windows linux and solaris ... no ontap ??

You need to install it on one of these OS only (Windows, Linux, Solaris)

It supports scanning the files on located on netapps.

Yes, this has been renamed from SAV for NAS.

New name is Symantec Protection Engine for NAS.

You have to install Protection Engine onto a Windows server because OnTAP uses RPC to send the scan requests to PE. You should contact NetApp for more about how to use vscan on the NetApp.
