hi

We have MPLS branch network. My Av server is SAV corporate edition 10.2 . Clients are 9.x and above.

I have single parent server to which all the clients are configured as managed clients and are downloading AV updates without any problems till yesterday. All of a sudden since yesterday I find that the branch clients while updating are choking the bandwidth..No changes were done..any clue or ideas?

what is bandwidth requirement for AV signature downloads to clients?

Mayabe SAV decided to update the clients as well?  Maybe if you monitor the link to your branch office you will be able to see what type of data is hogging up your bandwidth.

Hi thanks for the reply

the bandwidth is occupied by from nav server to the branch clients.

I see that the data that is transfered is aroud 3 -3 MB from the server.

If the server is talking to the client will there be remarkable bandwidth occupancy? What causes the server to talk to the clients? what will be the download sizeof the AV defintions when the server talks to the clients. Is it possible to stop server talking to the clients?

I am under fire ..need your much needed guidance

thanks in advance.

Do you not have a policy set which tells the clients which time of day to update their DAT files?  I would check this.  If you really need to stop it from happening though disable the the AVP services on the server.  Then when it's not busy, enable them again and figure out what the problem is.
