Here is Symantec's take on it:

About Windows 8 and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

We have it installed on a few Win8 machines. Certainly won't hurt to test it out just know that it's not officially supported.Other than that, feel free to try it out.

Windows 8 may be supported in SEP 12.1 RU2.

Incase, if you are interested in Beta Testing for SEP 12.1 RU2, check this :

The Symantec Beta Program is now accepting applications to participate in the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU2 Program which is scheduled to begin in early July.

In order to be considered for this program you must be registered with Symbeta.  If you are already registered, log in with your username and password.  If you have not yet registered, you will need to create a Symbeta account and provide the necessary information.

Hope that helps!!

I am talking about WIndows 8 and not SEP 12.1 beta testing.

Can you please explain what do you mean by "Windows 8 may be supported in SEP 12.1 RU2."

with the current version of SEP, SEP client on Windows 8 is not supported.

12.1 Ru2 is the next version of SEP, which is going to be released in coming months, Symantec have BETA to test it. This version will be supported on Windows 8 OS.
