    Now that the streaming agent is part of CMS I would like to try and utilze it.  I have seen a demo where it appeared just the config file was changed to point to a share and then the apps populated.

    I have installed it and tried to change various settings in the config file but it closes out every time I try and launch the agent.

    The log files show this

    2014-10-02 09:52:05 INFO   [7036] AppMgrGui,Gui::CAppMgrApp::InitInstance#1005| CfgFile and LogFacility initiated. Now starting the GUI
    2014-10-02 09:52:05 ERROR  [7036] UiHandler,UiHandler::UserInterface::getPackagesList#1483| Could not get the Guid of IdlPackageInfo
    2014-10-02 09:52:05 ERROR  [7036] AppMgrGui,Gui::RealExtraPackageInfoSource::getPackages#146| Unable to get package list, Error=5
    2014-10-02 09:52:06 WARN   [7036] AppMgrGui,Gui::CAppMgrApp::getEngineStatus#443| Could NOT get engine status

    Not sure if you've configured the application path stream properly.    What do you have as the value for your VDI_PKG_REPO config parameter?

    Thanks,
    Jim

    I created a share on a server (lets call the server APPSERVER1) and called it STREAM

    then in the config I used

    VDI_PKG_REPO=\\APPSERVER1\STREAM

    I also tried with the IP Address of the server and FQDN with the same results.

    Would you please copy all the MgrLog files.

    How did you apply changes related to Network apps in the AppstreamCFG. Whether it was included as part of the installation or after installing the streaming agent you opened the CFG file and made those changes.

    If you did the changes by yourself, did you restart the machine after that?

    These are the steps that you have to follow.

    1. Once you made changes in the AppstreamCFG file, you will have to save it and restart the machine.

    2.Login again , applications should be streamed to the endpoint.

    These events will be recorded in the log. That's the reason why i am asking you all the Mgrlog files that you have in that folder.

    I installed the streaming agent and then made the changes to the cfg file.

    This is the only workstation that I have attempted to test so far and it is my own.  I have rebooted my machine every day since I originally installed it over a month ago so plenty of reboots in there since I made the change

    I have attached all the files contained in the logs folder to this post in a zip

    I need a few more details.

    How did you install the streaming agent? Did you use Symantec Workspace Streaming Agent.msi or "SEV agents.exe" to install? If you used Symantec Workspace Streaming Agent.msi  ,did you install SWV agent priror to it. Because streaming agent requires SWV agent,then only you can able to stream packages.

    Yes I did use the MSI and installed the SWV agent prior to installing it, using the MSI for that as well. 64bit windows 8.1 that I am testing on currently, haven't tried our win7 64bit yet.

    Would you be able to open the AppMGr GUI agent ?

    Is it possible to have Web-ex?

    When I open the GUI it opens for a moment and then closes/crashes with no error.

    I can do a webex or open a ticket with support about this, just it's not something we have implimented yet, just investigating so it's low on my priority list so was trying the forums before doing that.

    somehow Agent didn't get installed properly.

    Can you please remove both the Streaming agent and Virtualization agents and reboot the machine.

    I have attached the SEV agents_x64.exe. Can you just run this exe on your x64 bit machine. This is the combined installer for both virtualization and streaming. After the installation,please make sure you can able to launch the AppMgr GUI.

    Then you can update the settings in the configruation file.

    Well I can't believe I didn't do what I consider to be a basic troubleshooting step of uninstall / reinstall, but this resolved it, and it is now working.

    Thanks for the help.
