Greetings,
The environment;
PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) v10.0.2(Build13) SDK 4.0.0
PGP Universal Server V3.0.0 (Build2881)
The workstation
DELL Latitude E6410
Windows 7 (32-bit) fully patched
Microsoft Forefront Client Security (Client AntiVirus/Firewall)
PGP WDE installed on 15Jul2011, with no issues until today
The scenario;
1) Day 0
- boot system at 10A and enter PGP Passphrase with no issues.
- Perform Microsoft security updates from Patch Tuesday - November 2011
- Re-boot system at 11A and enter PGP Passphrase with no issues.
- General work activities using Microsoft Office Products, third-party text editors over VPN and Microsoft Terminal Server sessions
- Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 at 7P
- Re-boot system at 8P and enter PGP Passphrase with no issues.
- Shutdown system at 12 midnight
2) Day 1
- boot system. Display shows "bootguard" with a blinking cursor in top left corner of screen.
- attempted several cold starts with same results of "bootguard" with a blinking cursor.
- review of device logins with the PGP Universal Server product show the last login at to the universal server on Day 0 at 11A. No additional errors or login failures showing in the log files for the device.
- from a separate (non-encrypted) system download the [bootg.iso] image for 10.1.2 from [www.symantec.com/docs/TECH152604]
- Boot the DELL laptop with the Recovery CD using the correct passphrase and begin the long, excruciatingly painful decryption process for 200GB of hard drive.
The Questions;
a) Are there any know issues with PGP WDE and the Microsoft Patch Tuesday release for Nov 2011?
b) Are there any know issues with PGP WDE and the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 product?
Thanks to all for sharing any comments or answers.
