Anybody have any info. on removing the "daofinder" virus

Created: 09 Mar 2010 • Updated: 09 Sep 2010 | 1 comment

I have the daofinder virus on XP. Norton 360 does not detect it.

If you run any search engine, and click on a link, you get redirected to the daofinder page, although the address bar shows av.rds.yahoo.com plus a string of garbage. If yiou type the link into the address bar however, the correct site comes up.

Also, you cannot cut and paste: If you try, a big ugly cursor appears. However, you can highlight a link and do edit, copy, paste with the toolbar.
Also, when I was editing a spread sheet, the same ugly cursor appeared when I tried to cut and paste, and proceeded to delete the spread sheet line by line.

I updated all my definitions today to no avail.

Maybe there are unwanted process running on  your system.
Try to download process explorer. Then terminate any suspicious application file.
