so after searching and searching, I am seeing articles where others had a similar issue and were told will be fixed in 7.0.

Well here we are at 7.6 HF7 and still {User} does not work...

{Machine Name} attempted to run Outlook and was blocked. This was ran by  {User} on  {Start Date}

so I wanted to post this to see if anyone has this working and now I am wondering what table is this pulling from as I see...

I have a ticket open and the support rep saw this. he is going to look into it more and see where the issue lies.

Hello,

I was able to reproduce the issue on a test system, so we can easily show backline what needs fixed. I also think I found where I saw the list of variables

It actually appears to be written for 6.x, so it is probably not overly helpful, although it appears you can see the list when creating the app metering email in the dropdown called "placeholders".

I will let you know what we end up finding out about the broken {user} variable.

I was able to get together with my backline and discuss the issue we are seeing. It has been a defect for quite awhile. Currently there is no fix available. The issue has been resolved in Version 8.0 however.

Let me know when you have some time, and we can have a call to further discuss this.
  

we just went to 7.6 and it takes us forever to get things done so I dont see us going to v8 anytime soon. oh well...

update...

I have escalated this issue to Development, creating a defect to have the fix we put in the 8.0 version back-ported to version 7.6 HF7 as a point-fix (3931564). I will provide regular updates as I work with Development on this. If you have any questions please let me know. Have a great weekend!
