Haven't tried uninstalling, isn't it supposed to run on a schedule and stay installed.

Have only got wired broadband. Barely any attempt is made by computer to connect to internet, no error messages. The software was downloaded frm website, will try the drivers option? If no luck then should I try uninstalling?

First, please explain "installed NAV over the internet last night". What did you download and where did you get it?

This is a forum for Symantec Antivirus or Symantec Endpoint Protection which are corporate products. There is a corporate SAV for Macintosh.

If your question involves Norton Antivirus for Macintosh, there is a more appropriate forum for that consumer product:

Not sure about Norton for Mac, but to my knowledge SAV for Mac doesn't touch anything networking related.  I run it on everything from G4's running 10.4.11 to  MacBook Pro's running 10.5.8 and have never had an issue.  If you are having networking problems with OS X. I would go to System Preferences>Network and see if your default locations are there.  There should be ones for Ethernet, Firewire, maybe modem and others depending on your hardware.  If not you can click the + and add back whatever you use.  The status of your connections will be listed there.  Also I would suggest checking Apple's forums.  There are tons of Macfans over there that will help you out.
