Hello Guys,

Do you guys know about how appHA console works? Is it similar to VOM or some thing different?  Any document regarding APPHA console?

Thanks in advance.

You can manage appHA via VOM

Thank you very much for the link.

I went through the doucment, basically we can manage in 3 ways.

Vsphere Client

VOM

APPHA console.

Am I right?

Hi Mokkan,

AppHA Console is integrated with vSphere client.  Bascially you manage AppHA from within vShpere.  It is just another tab in vSphere.

Thank you,

Wally

To add to what Wally has mentioned:

- HA Console is a server role, which works as a (kind-of) middle layer & gatekeeper between VMware vSphere Client & ApplictionHA/VCS nodes (virtual machines).

- HA Console is the module which registers our plugin in vSphere client - so that "ApplicationHA/SymantecHA" tabs & other context menus appear in vSphere client.

- HA Console also performs other tasks like Single-Sign-On maintenance, Push-Install, provides Dashboard view etc.

- The components of HA Console are similar (to some extent) to the VOM CS.

However, HA Console is tailor-made specifically for VMware vSphere environment and deals with AppHA / VCS products installed in the VMs.

You can refer to ApplicationHA 6.0/6.1 or VCS 6.0.1/6.1 product release docs for more info of HA Console.

Thank you guys. I am installing in Windows. Is there a special URL for appHA console? Or http://ipaddress:5436 ?

Wally_Heim's picture

Hi Mokkan,

The console is available in the vSphere console on the "Application HA" or "Symantec HA" tabs.  If you would like to access the same screen via a web browser then go to this link:

https://<VirtualMachineIP>:5634/vcs/admin/application_health.html

Replace the <VirtualMachineIP> with the IP of the VM that you are connecting to.  Sorry, I don't have a link for the dashboard pages.

Thank you,

Wally

Hi Mokkam / Wally,

There is NO public URL for the dashboard - which an user can launch from browser.

This is because, dashboard view needs the vCenter session ID (to connect to vCenter & fetch inventory info). So, Dashboard view is only available when connected via vSphere Client.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for all of your answers.  From my understanding we don't install anything with Vcenter, we just register the ApplicationHA console with Vcenter. Once it's registered, application HA tab will show only if   "Symantec ApplicationHA Service" Runs on the appha Console?

Wally_Heim's picture

Hi Mokkan,

Yes, the AppHA tab will not show up in vCenter if the AppHA services are not running on the server where the AppHA Console was installed.

If you find that the AppHA services are running then you might need to look into firewall blocking ports between the AppHA Console server and the vCenter server.

Thank you,

Wally
