Does anyone know if it's possible to disable either the microphone jack or an onboard microphone using Application and Device Control? While maintaining audio playback?

I've found the following using DevViewer:

This is for the SoundMax Integrated  HD Audio Driver

    [class name]: <Unknown>
    [guid]: {4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
    [device id]: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1984&SUBSYS_1028021E&REV_1004\4&12495CAF&0&0001
    [MFG string]: Analog Devices
    [provider]: AnalogDevices
    [driver data]: 8/3/2007
    [driver version]: 6.10.1.5491
    [hidden device]: false
    [Disabled]: false
    [PNP device]: true
    [can be disabled]: true
    [device node]: 0xd58

But I think it will not only disable the microphone...it will also kill the playback of audio in the process.

Thanks for your time and suggestions,

    -Mike

I believe there is no way to block the microphone without loosing your audio, unless you want to cut the wires to your mic.
    : )

The user could then plug in a USB Chatterbox, so you would then have to block that as well.

    Anyone else tried this?

The only other option I can think of is to show hidden devices and hope that one of the subcomponents is specific to the MIC input.  I have a SoundMAX setup though and I can't see anything that I would be able to disable that would be specific to the MIC input though.

then there isn't currently any way to disable it; It would be similar to trying to disable one mouse button, or one key on the keyboard.

Dissapointing answer, but at least now I know.
