  • 1.  Application and Device Control: Hardware IDs

    Posted Feb 03, 2010 02:37 PM

We are looking to start blocking personal MP3 players from being connected to our workstations.  Does anyone have or know of a good list of known MP3 player Hardware IDs?  Figured this would be a good place to share the knowledge, as I don't have access to every MP3 player out there...

Or better yet is there a decent way to log all hardware IDs? (we have SCCM, so that can be an option).

You can use this tool to view the IDS
DevViewer - a tool for finding hardware device ID for Device Blocking in SEP 11.x / 5.x

You are no help man...obviously I know about the Dev Viewer, I am asking if anyone who has already got a list compiled if they would share the knowledge as I know I don't have access to every kind of MP3 player out there...

block all , allow few- is always better than ..allow all, block few.

@Vikram - Yeah thats my stance on alot of policies, but this one is very political.  I would rather block all then add exception when needed, however when dealing with 13000+ users its hard to get a good whitelist...not too mention the "political" backlash...
