  • 1.  Application and Device Control Policy Does Not Work

    Posted Oct 05, 2010 11:16 AM

    Hi Support,

I have installed SEPM 11.0.6 MP1 in one of the test machine. I have created an application and device control policy to block the USB Thumb Drive and Hardisk to block the clients to use them. After creating the policy, i use the USB thumb drive to connect to the server but the SEP policy won't block the access. Please kindly advise why the application and device control policy does not block the USB device.

Please share with me if you have any step by step guide to configure the policy will be great, thank you.

    Regards,
    Boon Hong

You can also attached a copy of your policy if you wish so we can take a look.

I have found ADC to be very particular so it's possible you could be missing one little character

Also note that ADC does not work on x64 base systems.

As I did not see this mentionned in the above documentation, it is good to note as well.

    Are your clients 64 bit?

Some times a reboot is requied for getting this policy effective.Try by rebooting once..

    Hi Support,

I have log a call to symantec helpdesk, the problem has resolved. I did not include the Application and Device control in the installation package, so the policy cannot control the client. Sorry that i am the culprit.

    Thanks.
