Application Control doesn't block file when started through IE
Updated: 23 May 2010 | 3 comments
Hi everyone, I'm trying to block the application 'PC-Visit' so that software vendors can't get direct through to our End User Client PCs. If I block the PC-Visit*.exe, it works that the file can't be started through Windows Explorer anymore (i.e. double click the file from the Desktop). However, if I open the exact same file from within Internet Explorer and choose 'Execute' the app opens fine. What else do I need to block to ensure it can't be executed from the browser as well?
Thanks for your help

Edit/Add a application control rule
Edit/Add a application control rule set...
Under Block applications from running... you add iexplore.exe(from program files)
and under Block these applications rule, add PC-Visit(u can add the fingerprint also)
Now PC-Visit starting from INTERNET explorer should be blocked...
