yes SEP 11 does not work on 64 bit OS. This is as per design

SEP 12.1 works on 64 bit OS.

    check this link

Note: The information in this chapter applies only to 32-bit client computers.
Application and Device Control Policies do not work on 64-bit client computers."

Note: Application and Device Control Policies do not work on 64-bit client computer in 11.0.

Symantec has released Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 with support for application and Device control on 64-bit platforms.

    Hello,

Here is a Very important Document for the same.

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 compatibility with 64-bit platform

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102143

Currently the following SEP 11.x features do not run on 64 bit Windows systems:

    -    Device Control
    -    Tamper Protection (AKA SymProtect)
    -    Right Click “Scan for Viruses…”
    -    Lotus Notes (Domino), Microsoft Exchange and POP3/SMTP email scanning
    -    System Lockdown
    -    Central Quarantine
    -    Proactive Threat Protection will not detect poller type keyloggers (although this shouldn’t be cause for concern as Auto-Protect is far more accurate at detecting keyloggers)

I would suggest you to Migrate to SEP 12.1.

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH162730

Features supported on 64 bit OS

    -AV

-Proactive threat Scan (a.k.a truscan or Sonar)

    -Bloodhound

    -Malheur

    -Tamper Protection

    -Internet email scanning

    -Device Control

    -Application Control

    -System Lockdown

    -Outlook Email Scanning

    -Lotus Notes Email Scanning

    -Right Click scan for viruses

    -Firewall

    -IPS

    -Application learning

    -Host Integrity (SNAC)

Also, check the Comparision between SEP 11.x and SEP 12.1 (file attached)

    Hope that helps!!
