Application Learning Issues
I am in the middle of an evaluation and have been trying to get the Application Learning feature to work. As of this point it is not sending back any application data to SEPM.
SEPM server is a Win2k3 64-bit external SQL server running 11.0.4202.75.
I have all the agents installed, NTP, TruScan and App and Dev Control. All agents are green and getting updates and policies. We are using mostly "out of the box" policies as well.
I have the "Learn applications that run on the client computers" checked and have also verified that it is checked under the location specific settings as well.
When I go to "policies", "Search for Application", browse and select my active test group and click search I get nothing.
I have gone through all the logs I could find and have also looked at all the tables in the DB just in case it was an UI displaying issue but it appears that the data is not getting to SEPM.
I do have a ticket open through my reseller but TS seems to not have a clue at this point and we are in the process of trying to get the ticket escalated.

You have to select something
You have to select something in the search field, then it will populate:
no dice,..
I just tried that as well,.. no go. I have uploaded log to support, we will wait and see.
I'm not certain on this, but
I'm not certain on this, but wasn't there a check box in one of the policies int Policies tab, where you allow this?

Indeed there is Bekidur
Under Policies Tab of the groups
Top right, below settings:
- Communication settings
-- UPLOAD
" Learn applications that run on the client computers"
Clients will keep track of every application that is run and send the collected data to the management server.
There is a checkbox.
Not sure if this is on by default....
Definitely something to look at though
update,.
Ok,. after talking to support some more and more of the obvious I decided to reload it on another box. This time I used a 32-bit server and used the internal DB. Got it to work with no problems. So I am thinking it was the 64-bit OS on the SEPM that was giving me the issues. I require an external DB for my Altiris integration. So I load up ANOTHER SEPM server (my 5th to count) 32 bit this time and use a external SQL 2005 server and guess what,.. it does not work. Go figure.
Is there anyone out there that can confirm that Application Learning works with 11.0.4202.75 on an external DB?
