Im just setting up out Inventory Solution for the first time, and am learning how to use it. I understood Application Metering is a part of that? Im not seeing it as part of that. Am I correct or is it a seperate solution? Wheres the best place to start with it?

Thx

Application Metering is a separate solution, but it can utilize the auditpls.ini, when configured to do so in the App Metering configuration settings. So, I guess installing it is the best place to start

From there, you really want to decide what you want to do with App Metering. You can track expensive applications, or block troublesome apps. Using the installed vs. used is one key way in setting up a license reclamation project. Note that neither Inventory or App Metering do the uninstalls, you would need Software Delivery to do this.

Thanks - Is that different than software auditing? If so, how?

Nope, that's exactly what it is. With full blown Asset\CMDB solution you can do more with contract management, by creating Win32 licenses and such (which just makes your job easier once it's setup). I always found the hard part was the chasing around with the installed vs. used results trying to verify the information.
