Application Metering on 64 bit clients

Created: 11 Mar 2013 | 1 comment

We are seeing some 64bit machines where app metering is putting a 1,000 temp files into c:\windows\temp\AeXam folder.

so in resource manager.

View> Inventory there is

Data Classes> Inventory> Application metering> Monthly Summary and it has data. This is on our 64bit that is having the temp files fill up and my test  machine that does not have the folder filling up.

Then View> Events there is a Data Classes> Inventory> Application metering> Application Start. However this does not exist on my 64bit machines. even my test machine that is not showing the ton of temp files.

in addition a side note.. on my test machine that I thought app metering is working on (64bit)... if you go into the queue folder there is a file that when opened with notepad shows it is the app metering start info. This is not on my machines with the temp files building up.

any ideas?

well i have been working on this and getting no where. our 32bt systems work fine.

Symantec recommends using metering from software catalog, however I am not sure this will do all that we want. Yes the underutulized software report does get populated but there is so much more to do for this. Example is Office...

more to come
