Hi,

I am replacing an old BE Server with a new BE Server (same ver. 10d), installed BE on the new server no problem.

Tried to copy the old server's config using the beutility Copy Media Server Configuration, again, no problem.

Tried to use the beutility on the new server to Apply copied media server configuration and it says that it ends without any errors, but when I open BackupExec, there are none of my existing jobs or media sets or anything from my old server.

Can someone offer some ideas?? I really don't want to recreate all my media sets or job information if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Hi Ken,

I actually remember you from the old Veritas Forums.

The document you suggest mentions copying the Data Directory. I have tried that with all of the services stopped (including the MSSQL $BE Service) and once I do and start the services back up, the BE Server service won't start. It throws an error.

I believe it has to do with copying the MSSQL Database information. the bedb_dat.mdf and log files from the old server named BAK1 to the new server named BAK0.

If I copy all of the Data directory except for the MSSQL Databases, the services start fine. no problem, but none of the config comes across.

The Apply copied media server in beutil does not throw an error, but none of the config is there when I open BE on the new server.

any other suggestions would be appreciated.

yup same OS. Windows 2003 Std. Server

when I copied the original mdf and log files from the BE Install back into the Data directory (I backed them up before replacing them), and started MSSQL, the BE Server service and all the other BE services started fine.

Hi,

if you read my entire post, I tried that document, but the config copy doesn't take for some reason. no error message.

Thanks
